Volkswagen's challenges in Germany do not endanger production in Slovakia
According to the latest reports, plant in Emden, northwest Germany, will remain closed for six weeks, which will affect Volkswagen's production of electric vehicles (EVs). Workers on the EV production line will have an extended summer holiday and one shift will be terminated for two weeks due to reduced demand of 30% in electric vehicles in Emden. The electric SUV ID.4 and the planned electric sedan ID.7 are among the models affected by the shutdown. However, production of models with internal combustion engines, such as the Passat, will continue as scheduled.

Microsoft continues showing positive trends
For the first quarter of 2023, Microsoft Corp. reported a 7% increase in total revenue to $52.9 billion and a 10% increase in operating income compared to the corresponding period last fiscal year. Microsoft Corp.'s net income was $18.3 billion, representing an overall year-over-year increase of 9%.

Gas price continues to fall on the EU spot market
We witnessed a decline in gas spot prices in Europe at the end of last year 2022. Prices peaked on 22 August 2022, when it reached EUR 341.20/MWh. From this point onwards, it gradually decreased to the current value of EUR 27.952/MWh (17 July 2023). The reason for the decrease was the warmer winter and the sufficiently large liquefied gas stocks in EU countries. These came as a partial replacement for the shortfall of Russian gas to Europe due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
